Whenever you purchase a new vehicle, the manufacturer provides you with a warranty which protects you from the cost of parts failures. This warranty is only valid, however, if you have the vehicle periodically serviced according to the manufactuer, by a certified mechanic, who records and stamps these services in your vehicle’s logbook.

It’s a common misconception that you can only keep your warranty by getting your car serviced at the dealer workshop. It’s actually illegal for the manufacturer to demand you visit a specific workshop, so exercise your right to choose!

Roadworthy Certificates and Vehicle Inspections

Whenever a vehicle is sold or being re-registered, it must first pass a roadworthy inspection and be issued a roadworthy certificate (RWC) by a licensed tester. The roadworthy inspection is a thorough check of the entire vehicle, to ensue it meets the legal standards to be safely driven on Victorian roads. It’s important to remember that a roadworthy certificate only ensures the vehicle is safe to drive, not that it is in good condition, or reliable.

If you want to make sure the vehicle you’re looking at buying is in good condition, we would recommend a pre-purchase inspection. This ensures you know exactly what you’re buying, and helps you avoid any nasty surprises.

Pre-trip inspections are a good idea whenever you’re planning a long road trip, or a camping trip out in the bush, for this simple reason: Would you rather discover there’s an issue with your engine in a mechanics workshop, where it can be fixed, or out in the middle of nowhere, thousands of kilometres from anything, when  you go to start your car and it dies?

Brake Services

Your brakes are the most important safety feature that your vehicle has. While other safety systems, like airbags, reduce the severity of an impact, your brakes can also act preventatively, and the condition of your brakes can often be the difference between an accident and an emergency stop.

The exhaust draws waste gases out of the engine bay, allowing fresh air to flow in and fuel your engine. So your exhaust might not seem important, but it is vital to your engine running smoothly.

Air Conditioning

There’s not much worse in life than being stuck in traffic with broken air conditioning on a hot day. Your AC actually degrades more from disuse than from use, as the rubber tubing and seals dry up and crack, allowing the refrigerant gas to leak out and rob your aircon of its cooling power.

Here at Marco’s Automotive, we can fully repair your air conditioning (AU25484), starting by replacing any faulty compressors and condensers, then swapping out any cracked tubing or seals, and finally recharging your system with refrigerant once we’re certain it’s airtight.

Tyre Services

Your tyres connect your vehicle to the road, with the surface area of a tyre actually touching the road, ‘the contact patch’, being roughly the size of outstretched hand. This makes the condition of your tyres critical to performance, handling, and most importantly road safety.

While they may seem simple, your tyres are actually a feat of modern engineering. Your tyres’ treads are painstakingly designed by engineers to provide maximal grip- for example, they act as channels to divert water away from the contact patch of the tyre in wet weather, to prevent your car from aquaplaning.

These treads are even designed to continue doing their job as they wear, but if your tyres aren’t balanced, or your wheels are out of alignment, the wear will be uneven, and your tyres will lose effectiveness quickly.
